A couple of years back I went up to Mammoth Lakes on a road trip which turned out to be one of these trips that will kind of change your life. We spent a few days in Mammoth and then drove into Death Valley National Park in my VW Vanagon (60 miles of dirt road and no cell reception) and spent a couple more days at hot springs and climbing the dunes in the Eureka Valley. While in Mammoth we stayed with my buddy Bryon Friedman. Bryon used to race the Skiing World Cup with the US Ski Team. After a bad accident during a World Cup downhill in Chamonix in 2005 he turned to music and has put out two albums so far (one of which I shot the photography for), with a third one on the way. Powder Magazine now published an article on Bryon and they asked me if I had some portraits, … sure did.

I photographed Shaums March in Santa Barbara recently. This photo was taken early in the morning off of Camino Cielo with the fog hanging in the trees all spooky.

Here is a portrait of German actor Constantin von Jascheroff I took in Berlin. We were shooting in a studio in a fashion academy all day. I’ve know Constantin since 2004 and every time I come to Berlin we meet and take some photos. I would say this was the most produced session so far, usually we shoot outside. I love the studio portrait with him staring so intensely into the camera, the metal staircase outside the window was also particularly cool. I have a lot of looks from this day but these three stood out…
